Support. Don’t Punish Campaign – Advocating for Compassionate Drug Policies
On June 27, 2023, AHRA joined the global “Support. Don’t Punish” campaign, advocating for compassionate drug policies that prioritize public health and human rights. The campaign aimed to raise awareness, empower communities, and engage policymakers in shifting the narrative away from punitive measures towards supportive approaches.
Key messages of the campaign included prioritizing health and harm reduction in drug policy, ending the criminalization of people who use drugs, advocating for balanced budgets that support health-based approaches, opposing the death penalty for drug offenses, and rejecting disproportionate punishments for those involved in the drug trade. Through social media and various activities, AHRA successfully engaged the community and highlighted the need for humane and effective drug policies.
